I have these films on my "to see" list and I was wondering how you liked the following ones:
North by Northwest
Vertigo
The Great Escape
Rear Window
Psycho

Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
I haven't seen a poor Hitchcock movie. My favourite would be 'Rear Window'. The direction absolutly holds your attention, as the events unfold in the humid heat of an American appartment block. I'd also recommend 'North by Northwest'.
James Stewart is also brilliant in 'It's a Wonderful Life'. A film that will make you cry and fill you with hope.
'Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid' was a film that supprised me. An entertaining story of two 'good' bad guys; Paul Newman and Robert Redford, have a remarkable chemistry on film. The movie has a wonderful mix of humour and drama, and moves you to a poignient and touching ending.
However, 'The Great Escape' is my personal favourite of the films you listed. Thoroughly entertaining, with a great cast, the film succeeds in illustrating the strength of friendship under extraordinary circumstances. Steve McQueen plays the ultimate hero, and despite the odd deviation, the film sticks reasonably closely to the true story. A plus is the even-handed approach to the German characters who are not all your typical 'comic book' villains.
I'll second recommendations for North by Northwest and Rear Window - Hitch's two best movies, in my opinion. Vertigo is good but overrated, Psycho is fantastic but still slightly overrated. Oh, and the second time Vertigo appears on your list, it's still good but overrated. :-)
The rest are all excellent films as well.
